Kohaku/Rin Drabble for heron-advocate

Title: Sweet and Sad
Written for: heron-advocate
Author: ~ Monique ~
Rating: PG-13~ish(?) [slight language]
Fandom: Inuyasha
Pairing/Ship(s): Kohaku/Rin
Spoilers: Well, if you don’t know who Kohaku’s hanging with these days, you probably shouldn’t read this. This takes place during Chapter 495.
Summary: With his new companions, Kohaku reflects. Rin-chan was very sweet, he thought; but he was very sad.
Word Count: 243
Disclaimer: I don’t own Inuyasha, or any characters, plots, etc. associated with Inuyasha. Takahashi Rumiko-sensei created ‘em, and for that I’ll be forever grateful to her. *^.~*

Kohaku/Rin

They were waiting for Sesshoumaru-sama. He hadn’t been with them very long, but Kohaku was certain they did this – sitting around a campfire, Ah-Un silent, Rin adorable (if a bit nerve-grinding) and Jaken impatient – quite often. After hearing “He’s late! Sesshoumaru-sama!” for about the forty-fifth time, Jaken had enough and left – not too far – to find something to eat.

“Kohaku-kun?”

He stopped stoking the fire and looked at her directly. “Yes, Rin-chan?”

“Do you like being with Rin-chan?” She looked very grown-up in her seriousness, and he decided he didn’t particularly like that expression on her usually-sweet face.

“Of course I like being with you, Rin-chan! Why would you ask that?”

She frowned. “You feel…unhappy; sad.”

Looking into her big, wet eyes, he just couldn’t tell her _why_ he was so damn _sad_. He couldn’t say Kikyou-sama being dead – like his family, like he was (as soon as Naraku took away the shard in his back) – was just another tragic chapter of his life and he feared how her role would progress. If the past was anything to go by, he could honestly say he’d rather the charming girl be kept as far away from him as possible. Anyone he liked – everyone he loved – had a habit of dying around him; or, at least, bleeding profusely.

“No, Rin-chan; right here, with you, is just fine.” She smiled – a wide, toothy expression – and he wished he remembered how it felt to smile that way.

Oh, and, just for fun: Inuyasha/Kagome

Title: Simple
Author: ~ Monique ~
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Inuyasha
Pairing/Ship(s): Inuyasha/Kagome
Spoilers: None, really.
Summary: Things have been...intense. Kagome enjoys a moment in time that's not so complicated or chaotic.
Word Count: 135
Disclaimer: I don’t own Inuyasha, or any characters, plots, etc. associated with Inuyasha. Takahashi Rumiko-sensei created ‘em, and for that I’ll be forever grateful to her. *^.~*

It was so mundane; tedious, even. She reveled in its simplicity, its utter triviality. This wasn’t life or death. This wasn’t heartbreaking or soul-wrenching or remotely dangerous. This would neither save nor end the world.

This was boiling water for instant ramen – simple, trite, and unhealthy; but, just then, she thought it utterly perfect.

“Inuyasha...”

“What?” He was irritable and it was cute because it was from hunger – not from self-loathing or the injury of a friend or the death of a beloved.

“Your ramen’s ready.”

He grunted, rising from his spot against the tree, walking to her briskly, and accepting the steaming foodstuff. His lips quirked in delight as he began eating and lifted into a satisfied smirk as he finished.

Kagome couldn’t help but smile in response. She was tired of frowning anyway.

- Word count: 135. Slightly too long for a drabble, but thinking of the Kohaku/Rin one inspired me. *^.^*
